Lacing: model

The model is wall mounted. The bobbins move the thread from left to right (bobbin lets go of the thread on the left side / coil pulls the thread on the right side).

Ideas

1)     The model is the making of a wall mounted surface across which the threads are pleated. The surface of the model is mapped on the surface of the computed environment.

2)     The threads are unravelled at the end of the agents journey. The aim is to create something ephemeral and continuous, taking place in time.

3)     I am interested in modern lacing patterns (the sophistication of the actual lacing doesn't need to be high) I am more interested in the idea of pleatings than its output.

I think the bobbins of the industriial knitting machines lend a very interesting language that the model should lend. I also really like the aesthetics of fly-fishing equipment.
