I am a Professor of Visual Computing in the Department of Computer Science at University College London, where I am a member of the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics Group.
My research area is visual computing with a particular interest
in real-time rendering, illumination computation, materials,
perception, computational photography, and video-based rendering.
I have six doctoral students, Dan Calian, Daniyar Turmukhambetov, Yotam Doron (sponsored by The Foundry), Fabrizio Pece,
Frederic Besse, and
Fabian Wanner (sponsored by Framestore),
who are working on 3d reconstruction, rendering, computational photography, and video-based rendering.
Furthermore, I have two post-docs, Neill Campbell, who is working on synthesizing photo-real objects and Kartic Subr (Newton fellow), who is working on rendering and image processing.
I am looking for new PhD students starting in September 2013 (open to all EU applicants). Topics include on Kinect-based capture (Microsoft Research Studentship) and video-based rendering. Please contact me before applying..
We have two papers accepted at ACM SIGGRAPH 2013
: one on jittered sampling and one on lenticular prints.
Our paper on non-paramatric pairwise potentials for dense CRF inference was accepted at CVPR 2013
has successfully finished his PhD. Congratulations!
Our paper on combining Patch Match and Belief Propagation for finding correspondence fields won the Best Industrial Impact Award
at BMVC 2012
Our paper on patch match belief propagation was accepted at BMVC 2012
We have two papers accepted at ECCV 2012

Our paper Videoscapes: Exploring Sparse, Unstructured Video Collections
has been accepted at ACM SIGGRAPH 2012
We have two papers accepted at Eurographics 2012
, one on inpainting dynamic objects in videos and one on creating multiperspective images and videos.
I'm helping organizing CVMP
, a London-based conference on visual media. The paper deadline is June 20th, so please consider submitting!
I am looking for a post-doc
as well as a new PhD student
, starting in the fall. The topic for both is on Synthesizing and Editing Photo-realistic Visual Objects
Our paper on edge-aware image filtering and our paper on video-based characters were accepted at ACM SIGGRAPH 2011
