well count my voice as that from one isp which would appreciate a simpler
and more scalable multicast architecture.

if we're lucky and succeed with the stack of hacks we're deploying today,
does anyone really think they will scale to tens of millions of users and
millions of sources (e.g. if the interactive game model flies)?

i do not advocate stopping deployment.  i am not the least inclined to
advocate slowing development of a next generation solution set.
