Appointments will be made on the Lecturer

viewed at: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/hr/salary_scales/
Progression through the salary scale is
incremental, with staff moving to the next point on the scale on 1st August
each year, until they reach the top point of their grade. Cost of living pay awards are negotiated
nationally and are usually effective from 1st August each year. A ‘Golden Hello’ scheme may apply in certain
circumstances, and in recent years we have also been successful in
supplementing the salaries of a number of outstanding applicants through grants
from organizations such as the Royal Society.
RELOCATION SUPPLMENT
In addition to
removal expenses a relocation supplement of £9,000 may be payable where it is
necessary to relocate to take up appointment at UCL.
PROBATION
‘Lecturer A’ and ‘Lecturer B’

undertaking a Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. Senior Lecturer and Reader appointments are
normally not subject to a probationary period.

No specific periods of annual leave are
specified. However, a notional 27 days
annual leave per year is used to assist in workload planning and calculations
related to salary. Any annual leave
taken will normally be taken in the university vacations as approved by the
Head of Department. UCL also closes for
a period at Christmas and Easter, at which times staff benefit from a total of
6 ´closure days´ in addition to Bank Holidays.

who have completed probation are entitled to apply for sabbatical leave for one
term in every three years.

current employee contribution rate of 6.35% and an employer contribution rate
