EVOLUTION OF DEPTH

In a variety of problems in earlier work [Langdon2000] program depth in the population in runs using standard crossover grew rapidly but apparently linearly. While problem dependent, on average trees grew roughly one level per generation. (Recent work suggests the shape of the initial trees is important).
