Abstract

Since early eighties, we have pioneering research into visual 
virtual humans in the long-term objective that they should 
recognize us, understand us and reply in a "conscious" way. 
What are the problems we have solved during these two last 
decades? What are the problems we are solving now? What is 
still to be solved? Is the long-term objective to create smart 
personalities feasible? We will try to answer these various
