I have worked for over nine years in the broad area of applied computing and software systems engineering. My recent achievements are:
- Create the City Data Strategy for the Greater London Authority, a strategy that was drawn on the case study of my PhD thesis.
- Create a full requirements specification document of Urban Platforms for the European Innovation partnership Program, and have played an important role in engaging European cities with industry to design urban platforms for smart cities.
I have dedicated my academic and professional career to advancing many fields of research in computer and management sciences, namely:
- large-scale software engineering
- smart cities, smart buildings, emerging technologies, the Internet of Things
- supply chain management, business models, artificial intelligence
- cancer diagnosis (radiology & neuroimaging) and biomedical engineering
I have created a successful start up company at the age of 21, and have worked for large organisations such as IBM, the Greater London Authority, ARUP, Bank of Brazil, where I have successfully applied and transferred knowledge from academic research to corporate practice.
Numerous awards, grants, scholarships and recognition were received from Google, Intel, ACM, McKinsey & Co, IBM, ARUP, WISE, We are the City, among others. I am an advocate for women in STEM and since 2006 I have worked towards increasing the representation of women in computer science and engineering.
