HIPPARCH '94

                             First Workshop on
                   High Performance Protocol Architectures

Sophia Antipolis (FRANCE), December 15-16, 1994

A workshop organized by INRIA within the context of the HIPPARCH
project (European-Australian collaboration); sponsored by CEC DG XIII.

                              CALL FOR PAPERS

OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE

The objective of the HIPPARCH project is to study and design high performance
communication architectures and implementations, based particularly on the
"Application Level Framing" and "Integrated Layer Processing" concepts. We will
present the early results of the project and would like to exchange our
experience and experimental results with those of other groups engaged in
similar research. In particular we seek research contributions in the following
areas:

	Adaptable transmission control mechanisms
	Novel implementation techniques
	Experiences with ALF/ILP
Tools and description languages for protocol implementation

VENUE

The workshop will be held at Sophia-Antipolis France, in the vicinity of Nice
and Cannes on the "Cote d'Azur" (french Riviera), which stretches from Cassis
to
Menton encompassing a string of mediterranean resorts famous for their
beautiful scenery and lively atmosphere. Just inland from the coast is some of
the most beautiful countryside in France. Within easy reach of the workshop
site are situated some picturesque villages which are well worth a visit: Biot,
Mougins, Saint-Paul de Vence and Vallauris. Sophia-Antipolis houses more than
300 academic, research and high technology centers in the areas of telecommuni-
cations, data processing, electronics, etc. Several major international
companies have chosen to locate research facilities in the science park with in
total some 10,000 personnel.
