Submission to IFL'98

Please note that the deadline for submission to the draft proceedings is Friday 21/8/98. Your paper should be set in either 11pt or 12pt for A4 paper with at least 2.5cm margins, and not include page numbers (we will add these). Note that papers will be photo-reduced by 50% so please don't be tempted to reduce the font size and please also make sure that any diagrams are legible at the smaller size.

We have set up an automated system to process submissions. Please send uuencoded, optionally compressed/gzipped PostScript of your submission to ifl98sub@dcs.st-and.ac.uk

This address is for *submissions only*, please direct any queries to ifl98@cs.ucl.ac.uk

Please remember to include the following details after your paper title:

If we cannot process your submission automatically, you will be informed of any problems as soon as possible. Note that we cannot handle documents submitted in any form other than the above (word-processor sources, DVI etc.). In particular we will reject MIME-encoded attachments or non-uuencoded PostScript (the latter has a high probability of corruption by mail transmission and we presently have no automated tools to deal with the former).

We hope that as in previous years, a selection of revised papers from the draft proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag. For the final proceedings Springer require the LaTeX sources of your document, formatted using the Springer-Verlag llncs package (obtainable from ftp://trick.ntp.springer.de/pub/tex/latex/llncs/latex2e/).

Note that it is not unusual for LaTeX sources to include local dependencies, of which you may not be aware. Such dependencies include local macro files that you have defined or used, non-standard packages that have been acquired from other sites, or non-standard font or printer configurations designed for local circumstances etc. These dependencies introduced serious delays in the production of last year's proceedings. For this year, we have therefore set up an automated checker for LaTeX sources that you will be able to use to check your sources before final submission. This interfaces to the latest version of tetex (presently 0.4), with a completely standard set of LaTeX packages and fonts. We will inform you of how to use this checker at a later date.
