If you are travelling from Heathrow, the best route to UCL is to take the underground. The Piccadilly Line will take you to Kings Cross if you want to go direct to your room at John Dodgson House (if you have a lot of heavy bags, a taxi could take you the extremely short distance to Bidborough Road, otherwise it takes a couple of minutes to walk from the station to the Halls of Residence). If you want to go direct to UCL then you should aim for Warren Street (Victoria and Northern Lines): if you want to go direct to Campbell House then aim for Euston (Victoria and Northern Lines) or Euston Square (Circle, Hammersmith & City, and District Lines). Seasoned Londoners have complex algorithms for deciding when and where to change from the Piccadilly to the Victoria or Northern Lines (depending on how close the two platforms are at the intersection stations): for example, to avoid a long walk along the passenger connection tunnel at Green Park, try changing first at Baron's Court onto the District Line, then at Victoria onto the Victoria Line. If you find this confusing, just follow the map and use your best judgement! It's difficult to get it completely wrong.
Travel times on the underground to/from Heathrow are about 80 minutes.
If you are travelling from Gatwick, take the train to Victoria Station. If money is no problem, then take the Gatwick Express (about 30 minutes to London), but otherwise you can save a lot of money by using the normal train service (there are fast trains at about 30minutes and slower trains which take about twice as long - it's worth making sure you board a fast train). Once you arrive at Victoria station you should take the Victoria Line to either Warren Street or Euston or King's Cross (see above).
The main entrance to UCL is on Gower Street. Enter the quadrangle with the dome and pillars in front of you, and turn left to the Pearson building. The entrance is in the near corner of the quad on your left. On entering, cross the art foyer on your left, and the departmental office is room G14 directly in front of you.
Our conference and meeting room is room G22. Enter the building as above, and cross the art foyer on your left. Turn right, and you will come to a set of stairs on your right and some double doors ahead. Go through the double doors and G22 is the first room (a lecture theatre) on your right.
