PhD position
The University College London has established an Centre for Inverse Problems, jointly by the
Department of Computer Science, Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics.
I am looking for one fully funded, 3/4-year studentships, to start in September
2019. It is for exceptionally qualified students to complete PhD in
computational inverse problems, which lies at the interface between inverse
problems and computational mathematics. The applicant should have
bachelor or master degree in mathematics, scientific computing or related
areas, as well as good programming skills. Specific research topics include,
but not limited to
l novel computational techniques (e.g., stochastic
iterative methods, learning techniques, approximate Bayesian techniques,) for
inverse problems
l numerical analysis of nonlocal problems.
The funding includes full tuition fees, a
training support fee and standard, tax-free maintenance for UK/EU students. The
studentship is open to UK, EU and oversea applicants.

- A short
research statement (250 words) explaining your motivation for applying to the
position and your research plan
- A
2-page CV which includes your academic and work experience.
All

rapidly and promising applicants will be invited to an interview. The deadline
of the first round of application in the department is December 15, 2018.

Note that there are two routes for the CSC application, one jointly with
University College London with a very early deadline (CSC pays the stipend and
UCL pays the tuition fee), and the other is a bit later (CSC pays both tuition
