Women In CS

This is the web site created for Women In CS, so as to facilitate communication and organization of events/services etc. For instance, announcements of events of interests will be found here.

This web site will be updated according to needs and interests, any ideas and feedbacks are welcome.

Women in CS contact person:  Li Zhaoping, z.li@ucl.ac.uk, room 805, ext: 32850. --- I am available if you would like to meet me in my role as the Women in CS officer. It is preferred that you contact me by email first, but you can also find me often during lunch time in the staff Common room of the department.

For students, a very useful website to visit is UCL women engineers, which is a UCL student society for women engineers, many CS women students are active in that society, and you will find useful contacts there.

Mailing Lists:

There are three mailing lists in the department for people interested in Women In CS:

  • women-staff: open to all staff and research students
  • women-students: open to all taught students
  • WomenInCS: contains the above two lists

If you like to join one of these mailing lists, please send a messge to women-staff-request@cs.ucl.ac.uk or women-students-request@cs.ucl.ac.uk from your departmental email account.

Girls in IT :

In 2009, students from Camden School for Girls and Francis Holland School came visited Dr. Licia Capra and Dr. Nadia Bianchi-Berthouze and their students to see what a typical working day is like for a CS woman. see this webpage by Dr. Licia Capra.

Do you also like to show school girls your typical CS day? Are you a school girl or a school teacher interested in such events? Please contact us if interested.
