Latest news:
  • I am on the programme committee for FUSION 2010.
  • The list of Master's projects are here.

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics Group in the Department of Computer Science at the University College London.

I am interested in the problem of developing, maintaining and conveying situation awareness - an understanding of what's going on in an environment. In particular, I'm very interested in problems which are distributed and mobile. This introduces many interrelated research problems. These can be broken down into two main themes:
  • How can we construct a dynamic 'picture' of the environment in a scalable but mathematically "correct" fashion?
  • How can we present this information to a decision maker in a useful and usable way?
Although the concept of situation awareness has its origins in defence, it is applicable in many areas from construction management to wilderness search and rescue.
