Ofer Margoninski

I am a research fellow with the UCL Beacon Project. This is a collaborative project in computational biology. The aim of the project is to build a model of the human liver by composing models of biological entities down to the level of cells. The project is led by Prof. Anne Warner.

I am also a Ph.D. student and a member of the UCL Computer Science Software Systems Engineering group. My thesis concerns creating a distributed software architecture framework for model integration in Systems Biology. My supervisor is Prof. Anthony Finkelstein. My current research interests are computational and mathematical modeling of biological systems, model integration, component frameworks and software engineering of heterogenous, distributed systems. We have published a few papers describing my research. For the full list see below.

I received my M.Sc. degree from the Hebrew University . My research dealt with new, secure, protocols that do not involve conventional cryptography and my thesis discussed a new, distributed E-Voting protocol that does require the use of any cryptographic protocols on behalf of the voters. I was supervised by Prof. Dahlia Malkhi. A paper describing this work was presented in Financial Cryptography.

I have also spent several years working in the industry, first with BackWeb Technologies and then with AddWise InfoManage, where I was responsible for designing the software architecture of the The Israeli Government e-Commerce Server Currently, I mainly advise the Israeli government on various eGo vernment issues relating to Software Engineering and Computer Security. Among th e projects I'm involved in are an eVoting pilot, the Israeli government ePayments system, and the Israeli Government search portal.
