The Zen of Balda


My research consists in studying and developing computational techniques for extracting knowledge from complex systems/data. More specifically, my reasearch is focused on understanding and leveraging the similarities between many related learning problems, while also exploiting any available prior information on each problem.
I am currently working on structured sparsity models for making inferences from complex neuroimaging data, kernel methods for reinforcement learning and efficient optimization algorithms for large scale problems.
