The demonstrations will be held from 5 p.m till 9 p.m. Tool fair proposals should suggest the demonstration of tools, systems, and environments that represent the best of current research work or commercially available products. Proposals should include a brief description of the software to be demonstrated and the demonstration itself (max. 2 pages). Tools fair proposal selection will be based upon the importance, relevance, and novelty of the software to be demonstrated. There will be no equipment (except of an overhead projector) provided. Proposals should be submitted (email prefered) by March, 20th to Klaus Pohl email: pohl@informatik. rwth-aachen.de RWTH-Aachen Informatik V Tel.Nr. 0241/80-21513 Ahornstr. 55 Fax 0241/80-21529 52056 Aachen ********************************************************************** From: Annie Anton (anton@cc.gatech.edu) Subject: Georgia Tech College of Computing Tech Report The following report is now available for anonymous FTP on the College of Computing Server (ftp.cc.gatech.edu - 130.207.7.245) in the directory: /pub/coc/tech_reports/1994 [GIT-CC-94-14.ps] "Inquiry-Based Scenario Analysis of System Requirements" Colin Potts, Kenji Takahashi, Annie Anton Abstract: The Inquiry Cycle is a formal structure for describing and supporting discussions about system requirements. It divides requirements analysis into three intertwined processes: proposing or writing requirements, challenging or discussing them, and refining or improving them. In this paper, we present an extended example (a meeting scheduler) of the Inquiry Cycle in operation, categorize the types of requirements discussion that occur in practice, and suggest some heuristics for analyzing requirements. We also explain how concrete scenarios improve analysis. ********************************************************************** From: Matthew Lee (ismatlee@cphkvx.cvphk.hk) Subject: First IFIP/SQI International (Asia-Pacific) Conference on Software Quality and Productivity (ICSQP 94'): theory, practice, education and training. CALL FOR PAPERS - FIRST IFIP/SQI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SOFTWARE QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY (ICSQP 94'): THEORY, PRACTICE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING 5 - 7 December 1994 City Polytechnic of Hong Kong Hong Kong JOINT ORGANIZERS/SPONSORS/SUPPORTERS: International Federation of Information Processing WG3.4/WG5.4 Software Quality Institute, Australia Hong Kong Computer Society City Polytechnic of Hong Kong OBJECTIVE: As the world becomes increasingly dependent on the use of computers, the need for quality software which can be produced at reasonable cost increases. Yet the goal of improving software quality and productivity remains an elusive one. This is so in almost all application areas including business oriented applications. Software development is not yet an engineering practice. It is now widely recognised that improving software quality and productivity requires more than just good programming practices. It entails a whole variety of issues and tasks centred around the entire process of software development from abstract user requirements analysis and modelling right down to machine level coding and the education and training of software developers. The focus is now clearly on the entire software process instead of on individual, isolated elements of software development. This conference aims to bring together researchers and practitioners who are interested in the efficient production of quality software, so that views across a variety of issues may be exchanged and a rich perspective on quality and productivity may be obtained. In addition, this conference will bring to the fast growing Asia-Pacific region a much needed focus on software quality and productivity. It is anticipated that this conference will become a biennial event. Papers presented will be published in the conference proceedings by IFIP. The Conference Programme will include plenary sessions featuring prominent invited speakers. SCOPE: The conference welcomes contributions in areas of theory, practice, education and training, from (but not restricted to) the following fields: software process modelling software process improvement software process maturity process assessments international standards (e.g. ISO, BS, AS, TQM, etc.) software product quality specification and evaluation software metrics and measurements requirements modelling and analysis software engineering environments software reuse and re-engineering software testing software risk assessment project management productivity tools quality aids CASE and workbench tools industrial practices case studies software quality assurance methods and techniques software engineering and software quality quality management issues impact of development methodologies on quality and productivity education and training technology transfer SUBMISSION INFORMATION: Four copies of the manuscript (maximum 8 pages) should be submitted to: Dr. Matthew Lee ICSQP 94' Programme Committee Co-Chair Dept of Information Systems City Polytechnic of Hong Kong 83 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Hong Kong Tel: +852 788 7348 Fax: +852 788 8694 E-mail: ismatlee@cphkvx.cphk.hk Submissions should include a separate TITLE PAGE (1 copy) specifying the title, all authors with their affiliations, abstract (maximum 200 words), up to 10 keywords, and the address of the contact author, including a telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address (if available). The TITLE PAGE should also be submitted by e-mail (in plain text) or fax to the P.C. Co-chair to facilitate submission processing. Potential contributors are invited to register immediately with the P.C. Co-chair their intention to contribute a paper to the conference. IMPORTANT DATES: Registration of intention to submit: NOW Deadline for receipt of papers 15 May 1994 Notification of acceptance 15 July 1994 Deadline for camera -ready copies 15 Sept 1994 All papers will be submitted to a standard refereeing process. Accepted papers will be presented in the conference. Papers which are presented will be published in the conference proceedings by IFIP. **********************************************************************
