On 30 July 1999 I visited the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where Prof. Carl Gustaf Jansson hosted me. He gave me an excellent overview of the various research groups and their interests at this institution, which made clear that there is too much common interest for a one-day visit.
I installed our program RETH (Requirements Engineering Though Hypertext) on a PC there and explained the underlying approach. A student (Martin Jonsson) volunteered to let himself guide through our newest feature in teh tool, its process guide. This raised even more interest for a more in-depth investigation.
I had brought with me some reprints of papers on RETH. In return, I received papers from Dr. Robert Ramberg on an approach to a pedagogical assistant for learning object-oriented design, developed by the Interface Design and Learning group and Dr. Paul Johannesson at DSV. While the focus of our process guide is different from that of their assistant, it seems that both sides could learn from one another.
This visit helped primarily getting information about each other's work. So, it provided very useful input for both further research at teh University and requirements engineering practice in industry. It seems, however, very useful to strengthen the contact and to pursue further common activities.
