RENOIR visit report

Stelvio Cimato
(Uni Bologna)

The meeting took place on 29-30 March and was located at the University College in London.

During the visit I had the chance to interact with Anthony Finkelstein and Wolfgang Emmerich and to explore the possibility of further collaboration to carry on joint research activities.

We talked about the relationship between requirements engineering and component based software architectures. A promising research direction is the possibility to express (non) functional requirements for particular kind of components and architectures consisting of well defined configurations of interacting components.

During the visit I also met people from industry (in particular from Searchspace, a software house sharing some research projects with UCL) and talked also about the opportunities coming from the application of CORBA, XML and related technologies both in the field of software engineering and for concrete applications to allow information delivery from database systems.
