Syllabus

A summary of the MSc in Medical Image Computing is available as a one page PDF file (better formatting) or a web page.

The following four modules are shared with current MScs in the Department of Medical Physics
The Foundations of Anatomy and Scientific Computing module is composed of two courses. The Scientific Computing course is new and will be shared with the Computer Science MSc in Vision, Imaging and Virtual Environments. The Anatomy course is provided specifically for the MScs in the Medical Physics department.

The modules, Computer Assisted Radiology, Information Processing in Medical Imaging and Image Directed Analysis and Therapy are all new for this MSc.

Research Project
A research project forms one third of the course. The project will be undertaken either at UCL in one of the europe's largest Medical Imaging research groupings, or at an industrial company.

Industrial companies are encouraged to contact us if they are interested in providing research projects. There are tax incentives to encourage research in UK SMEs and offering a project may qualify under this scheme (see the Research and Development Tax Credits web site).

Assessment

The four modules shared with Medical Physics will be assessed by examination and the other modules by coursework. The research project will be assessed by presentations and a written report.

There is a reading list relevant to the MSc on a CMIC Wiki page.
