Saka, J. Orellana, P. Clarke, A. Di Donato, I. Bridge, N. Simpson Via Video-conf: M. Allenby, G. Fairey, S. Dallison, R. Hughes-Jones Actions from 4th Collaboration meeting. ======================================= 4.2 M. Allenby: Get Cisco loan extension in writing. Done. 4.3 F. Saka: Before xmas, plan tests through the production network. Ongoing. 4.4 & 4.5 Each site: Contact I. Bridge about the equipment they require. Progressing. Ian has circulated a document to those involved. The kit list has been checked by Harvey Lang. Waiting for responses from site managers (C. Seelig and Anthony Ryan). 4.6 UKERNA & P. Clarke: Make contact on making sure RAL link is lit on 1st March. UKERNA will write to P. Clarke advising how to progress. Ongoing. 4.9 S. Bhatti & UKERNA: Arrange to meet with J. Couzens and Experiment 8 people to discuss policies, classification and policing for QoS by 15th Nov 02. No progress yet. 4.10 P. Clarke: Set up a formal meeting with J. Butler and others to discuss TAC issues, loan equipment and output document on experience with Cisco routers. Contacted J. Butler. We will be put in touch directly with Product and Engineering group for TAC and on publication of sensitive material. She will start working on it immediately. P. Clarke will set up a meeting with her, . It will include I. Bridge, J. Couzens, D. Rogerson, J. Sharp Done. The meeting will be held on 9th December. 4.11 M. Rio. Document finding on Cisco bugs/experiences. Ongoing. CEF issue TAC with Cisco has been closed due to slow slow progress and since we will not be using the 7200 in the development network. Gantt Chart: ============ Task 2: Traffic generation and measurement definition and software. -------- Ongoing. Task 3: Traffic generation and measurement (equipment provision) -------- ACTION: R. Hughes-Jones to arrange meetings to discuss options and what we loose if we do not have GPS. No progress. Task 4: Produce security policy -------- ACTION: Send a reminder to T. Chown for distributing security document. Task 5: Classification/policies/policing for QoS -------- No update. See Action 4.9 above. Task 6: Lab based network equipment configuration -------- For packet sizes less than ~512, there is no DSCP QoS differentiation. This is only observed for 1G to 100Mbit/s connection. M. Rio will try to find the exact data size where this occurs and TAC case raised with Cisco. New IOS hangs when "no CEF" (Cisco express forwarding) command is entered and the router rebooted. The above problems have both been traced to the IOS version (12.12). An older IOS version (12.9T) has been installed and solves the problem, but CEF must be disabled for it to work. Issues with CEF have been halted. See 4.11 above. Tests between UCL and INFN are ongoing. Work on the firewall is ongoing. IP address allocation are being discussed with Bob Cranfield. Task 7: e2e Network equipment configuration -------- Ongoing. M. Allenby will talk to Robin Tasker and D. Rogerson about distribution of the IP addresses to the MB-NG sites. ACTION: R. Tasker should make a suggestion on the addressing scheme to be adopted by the project. Task 8: QoS Experimental measurements -------- Measurements on server machines are being analysed. Task 9: Managed bandwidth service -------- On hold until network is in place. Task 10: Plan extension of demonstrations to sites in Europe and US -------- On hold until network is in place. Task 11: The deployment and integration of the Middleware and APIs (GARA) -------- J. Orellana has installed and compiled Globus 1.1. There is a new version of Globus 3.0. He will find out more at the meeting in CERN on 5th and 6th Dec 02. Task 12: High throughput programme -------- No progress Equipment ========= Logical's Mistake. -For the 7600, OC48 version 1 line card has been ordered instead of version 2.
