Date: 25 October 02 Time: 10:30 am Location: UCL D17 and via Video-conferencing Present: UCL: F. Saka, J. Orellana, A. Di Donato, M. Rio via vid-conf: R. Hughes-Jones, G. Fairey, S. Dallison Anthony Ryan Equipment: ---------- Cisco: Logical estimated ship date for the Cisco equipment as 6th November 2002. Gantt Chart: ------------- Task 2: Traffic generation and measurement definition and software. -------- Work is ongoing to finish this task. Parties involved will meet after the plenary meeting to discuss practical issues to do with initiating and terminating tests and tools. Task 3: Traffic generation and measurement (equipment provision) -------- We have a quote for the GPS receiver module and antenna (30m cable). 5k pounds. We need to make a decision on whether we go ahead with this or find an alternate solution. We are currently looking at NTP as an alternative. Task 4: Produce security policy -------- The firewall issue needs to be discussed. Task 5: Classification/policies/policing for QoS -------- No update. ACTION: F. Saka will talk to S. Bhatti to find out if there have been any progress. Task 6: Lab based network equipment configuration -------- For packet sizes less than ~512, there is no DSCP QoS differentiation. This is only observed for 1G to 100Mbit/s connection. M. Rio will try to find the exact data size where this occurs and TAC case raised with Cisco. New IOS hangs when "no CEF" (Cisco express forwarding) command is entered and the router rebooted. The issue on the 75% bandwidth restriction has been resolved. Task 7: e2e Network equipment configuration -------- Mike Allenby sent a mail informing of the acquisition of the IP addresses for the development network. He says he will like to revisit how many subnets and number of addresses per subnet are required for MG-NG. He will talk to the relevant people. Task 8: QoS Experimental measurements -------- Measurements to characterise the end nodes are ongoing. Task 9: Managed bandwidth service -------- No progress. Task 10: Plan extension of demonstrations to sites in Europe and US -------- No progress. Task 11: The deployment and integration of the Middleware and APIs (GARA) -------- A Survey on what is available is ongoing. Task 12: High throughput programme -------- S. Dallison has written a draft work program document for the high throughput program. This will be reviewed by the co-leaders of the task before being made public. AOB ---- The UCL group now have a key to the lab where the situated playpen. This means tests should not be held up due to lack of access. -- Department of Physics & Astronomy, University College London, Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT Tel:+44 20 7679 3775
