Final version is one month away. Task 2. ------- Two meeting have happened. A number of draft documents, aimed at completing task 2, are being produced. The plan is to merge the documents into a single document. The terminology will be aligned with IPPM and GGF. Preliminary completion of draft documents is given as 28th July. ISSUES: We have identified the need for MIBs at the POPs. UKERNA do not have direct access to POPs. I. Bridge says Technical guys quote £750 a visit to the POPs. We need to come up with a technically feasible solution for accessing the MIBs at the POPs. ACTION: R. Hughes-Jones to enquire to UKERNA about access to POP MIBs. Equipment provision. -------------------- I. Bridge. Three CISCO 72xx have been ordered on loan. Two will go to UCL and one to Manchester. There is currently an administration problem with the delivery. The loan must be approved by a CISCO salesman and Mike McKeon is the guy dealing with it, unfortunately he is not responding to mails. AGREEMENT: If Mike McKeon hasn't responded in a couple of weeks, then we will set up a face-to-face meeting with Jane Butler. ACTIONS:OSR line cards are currently available. I. Bridge will ask if they can be shipped in August/September. ???NO ??? THE POINT OF THE LOAN IS THAT OSR WAN CARDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. IN ANY CAS EIM NOT SURE WHAT THIS POINT IS MEANT TO REFER TO - AS THERE WILL BE NO OSRS TILL POST SEPTEMBER ACTIONS:R. Hughes-Jones will send I. Bridge the requirements of GBICs. The possibility of putting copper GBICs on the OSRs must also be confirmed. GSR OC48 line cards exists. ACTIONS:P. Clarke has mailed Jane Butler to order the card immediately. ???NO??? WHATEVER WAS SAID IN THE MEETING (I DONT REMEMBER) WE ARE DISCUSSING INTERNALLY WHETHER WE WANT TO GET THESE EARLY, BUT THIS IS NOT DECIDED YET. I. Bridge says the price of a PC with the Trimble GPS receiver is 2500 Eros. ACTIONS: R. Hughes-Jones will talk to RIPE about their price and experience with Trimble GPS. I. Bridge also came across a Budget GPS system for $380. After delivery, the total price is $900, and it comes with no support and there might be some soldering involved. ACTIONS:PCs. Peter Clarke will send the order for the high performance PCs today. Three will go to Manchester and three to UCL. R. Hughes-Jones will receive a previously ordered one soon. R. Hughes-Jones is able to get second-hand racks with power supplies for £100. ACTIONS:Bob Cranfield will contact R. Hughes-Jones to discuss whether the dimensions are suitable, how many UCL wants and delivery. ACTIONS:I. Bridge and Peter Clarke will meet with Spirent on the 12th June 2002 to discuss the Spirent smartbits, line cards and the variants we require. Also what can we offer Spirent in return? Peter Clarke has spoken with Roberto Sabatini from DANTE about borrowing their smartbits equipment. Their equipment has OC48 and GPS enabled. ACTIONS:F. Saka to arrange a meeting with Roberto Sabatini about when we can borrow DANTE equipment. AOB ACTIONS:R. Hughes-Jones will send DataTag a copy of the MB-NG proposal document but with the CISCO discount removed from the text.
