UCL-CS
PhD student Elisa
Rondini has won a prestigious Anita Borg
Scholarship. As one of the selected scholars she will receive €5,000
to support her studies.
The scholarships are sponsored by Google in memory of Dr Anita Borg who "devoted
her adult life to revolutionizing the way we think about technology
and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering
computing and technology fields". The awards are made to female
undergraduate and graduate students based on the "strength of
each candidate’s academic background and demonstrated leadership".
Elisa Rondini began her PhD at UCL in 2006 and is working within the Divergent
Grid project supervised by Professor Stephen Hailes. Her research has been funded
by the EPSRC and the UCL Graduate School. Prior to taking up her
scholarship she will attend the Anita Borg Retreat which will be
held in Zurich in June this year.
